This website was born on February 18, 2007 out of my personal adoration of giant squid and is listed in the Aquatic Animals subcategory of Animals at TFL. The name Awaken the Kraken is actually from one of my poems regarding Davy Jones. I thought it fit perfectly and sounded cool (especially if you pronounce kraken as krayken), as the giant squid inspired myths of the kraken and Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. And that's just what the kraken is, is it not? A giant squid? :D

I created this site with Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 and Notepad. I maintain it with FireFTP, Enthusiast and Icon Sort.
The image featured in this website's header is used without the expressed permission of the artist, but it's licensed under a Creative Commons allowing for alteration of the original work; it is here: jrmyst's Tentacles on Ice. Other images are taken from Tonmo's Giant Squid gallery, also without permission from their photographers. Content written in the giant squid section is in my own words, based off notes that I've taken during Discovery Channel's airing of giant squid documentaries. I'm not 100% sure these are the names, but I think they were In Search of the Giant Squid and Giant Squid: Caught on Camera. It was months ago, so my mind is foggy, sorry.
